For those interested in its' history The Manhattan Club it was founded in October 1960 by two married couples that wanted to start a ballroom dance club. They put together a group of sixteen people and held their first dance at the Doric Hotel, located at 6th Avenue and St Helens Street in downtown Tacoma. They later moved their unnamed dance club to the New Yorker, also on 6th Avenue, and named their club The Manhattan Dance Club. Over the years the club moved a number of times and eventually ended up at the AM/VET's Hall where they have been since 1990. From the original sixteen members the Club quickly grew and turned into a singles club for adults over 35 years of age. Many of those singles got married and wanted to continue attending the dances so the club began welcoming both single and married members of all ages. Today the Club welcomes all dancers and we hope you will visit us soon!!
